1,372 Teachers Graduate From Patriotism Course in Mbarara – President Museveni Presides

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the pass-out of 1,372 secondary school teachers from Greater Mbarara and Ntungamo regions after completing a patriotism training course at Ntare School, Mbarara City.

Held under the theme “Transforming Teachers’ Lives through Patriotism”, the training aimed to empower teachers with discipline, service, and commitment to national development so they can inspire students and communities across Uganda.

In his speech, President Museveni congratulated the teachers and emphasized the four principles of the NRM:
✅ Patriotism
✅ Pan-Africanism
✅ Socio-economic transformation
✅ Democracy

He urged teachers to embrace wealth creation through commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT. He also reassured them that government remains committed to addressing salary disparities, starting with scientists but extending to arts and artisan teachers as resources allow.

The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Museveni, praised the teachers as a “critical asset” for Uganda’s future, noting their key role in instilling values of patriotism, unity, and service in the next generation.

Commissioner Hellen Seku of the National Patriotism Secretariat explained that the training was organized to equip teachers as role models and change agents. She lauded the support of President Museveni and Maama Janet in promoting patriotism among citizens.
