This recreation is nothing but my love for the Voyager title sequence. Voyager VFX under the wizardry of Dan Curry and his team drove me as a teen to wanting to emulate my heroes and work toward a future in VFX. I'm not quite there yet.

I originally recreated this title sequence in 2012 when entering the world of VFX and animation. Since then I have gained a bit more experience and wanted to revisit the project again, so this is me giving something back to the community.


This is also very much hero worship of Dan Curry, title designer; John Grower, effects and animation supervisor; Erik Tiemens, storyboard/design; and Eric Guaglione, animation supervisor, who won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Design in 1995, and the reason I got in to VFX!

The ship herself is a highly modified version of Voyager originally by Sarod (https://demozoo.org/graphics/47985/), which has been knocking around online since the late 90’s. I retextured and bought it up to 4k standards including miniature cabins behind windows, a complete rebuild of the nacelles, and some (non canon) self-illumination.

I used a plugin for Lightwave called “Turbulence FD” from Jawset (https://www.jawset.com/) for the fluid simulation in the nebula segment, and aside from that everything else is stock.
