Vintage Drill Press Restoration Sydéric S115 - Old Tool Restoration

A friend of my father, Pierre, gave me this old Sydéric S 115 drill press and I restored it. The process took me a long time because some parts were missing or broken, and also because it was very cold in the shop and the paint took a long time to dry.

The drill is a 130 kg industrial drill press. with 15 speeds from 110 to 6100 rpm. The motor is a 380V 3 phases 1/2 HP. The only part I had to buy was a CM1 1-16mm chuck.

It was also a lot of work and that's why this video is longer than the ones I usually post here. I started by taking it apart, cleaning all the parts, removing the rust and old grease, wirebrushing and buffing all the parts, than painting them, putting new grease on all the gears and putting the whole drill back together.

Then I made a new hige for the hood and a new handle. The old one was missing so it was the perfect occasion to work on the metal lathe and practice a bit more.
