This is my first attempt at a 100-mile Ultramarathon. I'd read that the Centurion Autumn 100 is a great race for ultra runners new to this distance. You have access to your race drop bag four times during the race, allowing you to top up your fuel and change clothes as conditions change. This was not an easy race, though, as conditions along the Thames path spurs were flooded and in places, the riverbank had collapsed making the going very muddy and the third Ridgeway spur it very exposed to the cold clear sky.
It was a great adventure and during the night running, I always felt safe knowing the brilliant Centurion marshals were not far away.
