若宮通（わかみやどおり）
若宮通は京都市の下京区にある南北の通りで、
豊臣秀吉の都市改造によって安土桃山時代に造られた通り。
通り名の由来はかつて通りにあった若宮八幡宮社からとなる。
しかし、若宮通と呼ばれたのは江戸後期からと言われ、
それ以前は通りの北側にある菅大臣神社の
門前町であった菊屋町の名前から菊屋町通と呼ばれていた。
また、通りの南部は本願寺の寺内町であった為、
仏具店が多く仏具屋町通とも呼ばれていた。

Wakamiya-dori
Wakamiya-dori is a north-south street in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City,
built during the Azuchi-Momoyama period as part of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's urban restructuring.
The street's name comes from Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine, which once stood on the street.
However, it is said that it only became known as Wakamiya-dori in the late Edo period,
before that, it was called Kikuyacho-dori,
after the name Kikuyacho, which was a temple town for Kandaijinja Shrine on the north side of the street.
The southern part of the street was also a temple town for Honganji Temple,
so there were many Buddhist goods shops, and it was also called Butsuguyacho-dori.
