De Franse panoramische autorail X 4200 is de trein van de week. Er werden tien van deze dieseltreinstellen gebouwd door de Franse autofabrikant Renault. De eerste kwam in dienst in 1959 en in 1985 ging de laatste buiten dienst bij de SNCF.

Dit karakteristieke treinstel was bedoeld om het toerisme per spoor een boost te geven. Ze reden dan ook vooral op de mooiste spoorlijnen van Frankrijk in de Alpen en aan de Middellandse Zeekust. Ze passen in de Franse traditie van ‘autorails’, zo maakte de autobanden fabrikant Michelin ze ook.

The French panoramic autorail X 4200 is the train of the week. Ten of these diesel trainsets were built by the French car manufacturer Renault. The first came into service in 1959 and the last one went out of service in 1985.

This characteristic train set was intended to boost tourism by rail. They mainly drove on the most beautiful railway lines in France in the Alps and on the Mediterranean coast. They fit into the French tradition of 'autorails', as the car tire manufacturer Michelin also made them.
