My own experiences installing rivets in bottom hi-hat cymbals - and a factor I've found to be critical in deciding whether a set of hi-hat cymbals is a good candidate for rivets.
Playing examples: 14" pre-serial Paiste 602 top cymbal (836g), paired with each of the following:
16:38 - 14" pre-serial Paiste 602 bottom cymbal (901g), no rivets
17:53 - 14" pre-serial Paiste 602 bottom cymbal (902g), with four rivets
19:12 - 14" Paiste Signature Traditionals Medium Light hi-hat bottom (1212g), with four rivets
