Hindustani in The Netherlands - Anthropology of the Dutch

Varisha Pancham (25) is account manager and was also a DJ in the now closed radio station I am Desi, a radio for Hindustani youngsters. In this Anthropology of the Dutch episode she is interviewed together with her radio colleagues.

"The Hindustani are both Hindus and Muslims who once came to Suriname from India. And then again to the Netherlands. We try to make it more difficult for ourselves as program makers, and it is typical for the Hindustani that they do not want to come to the forefront. They are virtually invisible; little interest has been made about the Hindustani community in the Netherlands. We have tried that now. The result is scenes that are sometimes on the edge of neo-colonial and paternalistic ... But I can do it, I hope."
