What is a Colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the lining of the colon (large intestine) and rectum. It involves inserting a long, thin, flexible tube with a camera (colonoscope) into the rectum to visualize the inside of the bowel on a monitor. This allows doctors to detect and potentially remove polyps or other abnormalities, and to diagnose various bowel conditions.

Dr. Radha Nair is a highly skilled surgeon with a diverse background in the field of surgery. He pursued his medical education in India and went on to achieve surgical fellowships in both India and the United Kingdom. In 2012, he assumed the role of Senior Consultant Surgeon at Alice Springs Hospital in the Northern Territory, and earned his fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Dr Nair’s clinical expertise spans a broad range of general surgical procedures. He has a special interest in hand surgery, regularly performing Carpal Tunnel Release, Trigger Finger Release, Ganglion Removal, and Dupuytren’s Contracture Release. Dr. Nair regularly performs excision of skin cancers including melanoma and performs curative surgery for large skin cancers with skin grafts,and flaps.
