In this video I restore a Rare Swedish Military Watch from Lemania, a now-defunct Swiss watch manufacturer. This model was exclusively sold to the Swedish military during the 1950s, named "Tg 195" (which isn't truely known what it stands for) and it has a very special stop/reset and start function. While rare worldwide, it is slightly more common in Sweden due to its original distribution.

Detailed restoration:
I purchased this watch at an auction at a great discount since several parts were missing, preventing it from functioning properly. Additionally, I didn’t verify with the auction house whether the watch was working—I got caught up in the bidding frenzy! 😆
Disassembly & Inspection:
I carefully disassembled the watch, mindful of the radioactive radiation from the dial and hands. The case back had threading issues and was slightly elliptical, likely bent years ago. I carefully reshaped it for a better fit.
Cleaning the Watch Parts:
All components were cleaned using my DIY watch cleaning machine, except for the balance wheel and pallet fork, which I manually cleaned in naphtha.
Sourcing Missing Parts:
Many parts were missing, but I was lucky to find a seller with almost everything I needed. One screw was unavailable, so I had to manufacture it myself.
Manufacturing a Custom Screw:
Using my 100-year-old Lorch lathe, I crafted the missing screw. The unusual 1.15 mm diameter required careful threading, which I achieved through multiple test cuts.
Restoring the Crystal & Hands:
I polished the acrylic crystal with sandpaper, Polywatch, and Dialux paste while preserving its character. The cracked lume on the hands was removed and repainted to match the original.
Reassembly & Final Adjustments:
I replaced the mainspring and reassembled the watch, achieving 270° amplitude with stable performance. The second hand didn’t reset perfectly to 12 o’clock due to a loose reset mechanism, but I left it as is to avoid potential damage.
