"Double Double" Tim Horton's Tribute Car | Color Matched 2 Creams 2 Sugars

On this episode of My Classic Car, Dennis heads to the resort town of Gimli Manitoba for Cruisin' Gimli Beach on Lake Winnipeg. This Canadian “slice of Heaven” plays host to some amazing variations of cars you don’t get to see everyday, like “Old Skool”, a GMC Carpenter Bus that was found in a field and kept that way. On the outside anyway. On the inside is a vintage ‘50s Diner! Even further foreign is this Austin of England in stock moss green. This funky little car has a stately front end more often reserved for the bigger cars. With a ground up restoration so clean, the only thing giving away the age are the semaphores on the side and the 1200 cc’s of “raw power” under the hood. On the custom side of things we have “Double Double”, a heavily massaged ’49 Ford now looking like a Merc, Tim Horton’s tribute car. With a color as creamy as its namesake, the interior is as warm and inviting as a cup-o-joe. A chopped and rowdy 409 powered ’31 Ford “Buzzard” joins the party. With Offenhauser valve covers and Thickston air cleaners, the engine truly is the focal point of the car, with red accents that pop like a rose on a tuxedo. Finally, a ’57 Ford Del Rio wagon gets a beautiful resto-mod treatment. This top of the line, two door wagon has clean lines and detail running its considerable length, and mild, new touches to accent what already was there. Period, but new. Just gorgeous. Gimli is a destination anyway, and with a car show, it’s a must stop!
