When Should I Believe It? - Determining Plausibility and Credibility of a Claim (Critical Thinking)

How do you know if a claim is believable, credible? When should you believe a claim is true? From get-rich-quick schemes, baseless claims of miracle cures, fake calls from the IRS, to unfounded conspiracy theories, more and more people are being duped and emotionally manipulated by false clams. Nobody is immune to being fooled by false claims. But we can make it less likely to happen by critically thinking about the credibility of a claim.

In this lecture, we'll discuss two ways of determining the credibility of a claim and go through examples of how to do that.
