“EX-WIVES” (Ex-Colonies British) | Ft: 🇦🇺 States and Territories|

This is about the original six colonies that formed the Commonwealth of Australia, I’ll give you a small bit of context for the words i used:

1) NSW: the First British Colony of Australia as a convict/penal colony. ‘Loyalty to the British’ Is in brackets because penal colonies weren’t treated as great as non penal colonies.

2) Tasmania: oh boy there is too much to cover about “Dark History” I’ll list some, Tasmania was home to some of the harshest penal settlements in the British Empire such as Port Arthur (infamous for psychological punishment (e.g. silent system, isolation cells)).
Convicts endured starvation, floggings, chains, and isolation — some even resorted to cannibalism (e.g. Alexander Pearce).
The Black War (1820s–1830s), One of the bloodiest and most tragic chapters in colonial-Aboriginal conflict. Settler expansion led to massacres of Palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal people). The colonial government declared martial law and allowed settlers to kill with impunity. Resulted in what many historians consider an act of genocide. Remains of Aboriginal people were kept in museums — a symbol of colonial violence and dehumanisation.

3) Victorian Gold Rush Summary
• Began in 1851 at Ballarat and Bendigo.
• Attracted hundreds of thousands of diggers from around the world.
• Made Victoria the richest colony and Melbourne the wealthiest city in the Southern Hemisphere.
• Sparked the Eureka Rebellion (1854), leading to democratic reforms.
• Transformed Victoria’s economy, population, and infrastructure.
And her saying “discover more” is referencing her title as the “Education State”

4) South Australia: was initially the only Colony that was not a penal colony and had the most freedom until Victoria split from NSW. South Australia is considered less successful compared to Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and NSW which explains his verse. It’s a very forgetton state like Tasmania.

5) Queensland: HAS MUCH MORE MATURAL DISASTERS such as bush fires, cyclones and flooding (poor Queenslanders 😭😭). Its considered the “Sunshine state” an has the fun tourist destinations symbolising “funs begun” and her calling herself a queen because well….its in her name. The U.S. was stationed in Queensland during WWII because it was a safe base close to the Pacific front after the fall of the Philippines. General MacArthur used Brisbane as his South West Pacific headquarters to launch campaigns against Japan.

6) Western Australia: Is the only state that has not change since being colonised (shape wise) while all the other states and territories have such as Northern Territory and South Aussie separating and joining multiple times and NSW, Queensland and Victoria splitting aswell symbolising the verse “I saw them to the end of their time” which I changed a bit. (tassie hasn’t changed either but it’s tiny anyway lol)

THE ENDING: both Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory appear. They formed after Australia gand indepence therefore they were never colonies and dont have the Union Jack!
