Over the past thirty years we have seen the image of whistleblowers shift dramatically from traitor and snitch to something resembling the cornerstone of good organisational culture: from zero to hero you could say. Protect was originally set up to shift perception and show that whistleblowing was in the public interest. The introduction of the Public Interest Disclosure Act (PIDA) was key to this shift, as well as the support from businesses, trade unions and political parties.
Those who’ve played a part in the charity’s past have been looking back at the key moments in whistleblowing history and evaluating what’s to come.
In this #conference session we hear from Ross Cranston, former High Court Judge and Solicitor General for #England and Wales (1998-2001) with speakers: Guy Dehn, Founder of Protect (previously known as Public Concern at Work); Helen Evans, former #whistleblower of the year (Oxfam whistleblower ); Andy Noble, Head of Whistleblowing and Speak Up at the #NatWest Group and Andrew Pepper-Parsons, #Policy Director at Protect.
