By sharing captivating stories involving a chatty taxi driver, rural indigenous communities, and college students, Jonathan Dason really drives home the importance of public policy and how it affects our everyday lives. He's all about bridging the gap between our dreams and the nitty-gritty reality of policy-making.

Based on his own experiences and his active role in the Malaysian Public Policy Competition (MPPC), Dason shows us how this program is like a launching pad for turning fresh ideas into practical policy proposals. It's pretty awesome to see how positive changes can sprout and flourish through this platform.

At the end of the day, Dason's message hits home for all of us, urging us to get involved in public policy discussions. He firmly believes that great ideas can come from anyone, so it's crucial for everyone to join in and work together to shape effective policies.
Jonathan believes that every student should have access to a strong youth development ecosystem. Much of his undergraduate years was spent deep in the jungles of Borneo, where he worked with local indigenous communities on rural revitalisation projects. He was elected to lead the Malaysian Students Global Alliance (MSGA), the umbrella organization that represents Malaysian students across 16 countries as its Secretary-General. After his degree, he worked in the field of Sustainability (ESG) and served in the Malaysian Foreign Ministry as a Perdana Fellow, while promoting the UN SDGs. He’s currently a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
