Waxing or Shaving?

Lets talk about the epic battle of choosing between waxing or shaving.
What’s the short answer? Waxing is when the hair is removed from the root using either hard wax or soft wax. Shaving is when you use a razor to cut the hair from the surface of the skin, so it’s more like trimming due to the root still being intact.
Now, let's dive in deeper.
First, let’s go over shaving. Shaving is a method of hair removal where a razor is used to cut the hair from the surface of the skin. This is quick, inexpensive and effective, however, the results last only for that day so you have to shave every day if you want to continue to stay smooth. Sometimes, especially if you get cold, the results last only a couple of hours. Shaving can cause stubble, ingrown hairs and razor burn. Ugh, the worst! It can also be really easy to cut yourself while shaving. I’ve done this more times than I can count (always on my ankles or knees).
So what are the positives? Shaving is cheap. All you need is a razor and shaving cream. You can shave as much or as often as you want. There really is no down time with shaving, unless you have razor burn which you definitely don’t want to shave over. It’s also something you can do yourself so you don’t have to go anywhere and make an appointment. Shaving is relatively painless, while you’re doing it at least. Of course, afterward it can be extremely painful with the ingrown hairs and razor burn.
Now, let’s go over waxing which is like the superhero of hair removal. Waxing is a hair removal method that involves applying wax to the skin, which adheres to the hair.
There are two main types of wax used: hard wax and soft wax. Hard wax is a type of wax that cools and hardens on its own, without the need for a strip laid on top of it. When the wax cools, it suction cups itself around the hair so when the wax is removed, the hair is pulled from the root. Hard wax only adheres to the hair, not the skin. This means you can go over the same area multiple times without any fear of lifting the skin.
Soft wax is a type of wax where you spread it on your skin and then lay a paper or muslin strip on top of it. When you remove the muslin strip, the wax and hair are removed with it. Soft wax adheres to the skin which means you can only go over an area of the body one time. If you go over the same area more than once, the skin can (and most likely will) be lifted and removed as well.
Personally, I only use and recommend hard wax.
Because the hair is pulled from the root, it will leave you smooth and hair-free for weeks, instead of days like shaving. When the hair does grow back, less hair will grow back in and that hair that does grow back will be finer and sparser. And let's not forget the confidence boost that comes with knowing you're silky smooth from head to toe, without having to worry about embarrassing hair or stubble for a month.
I know some of you might be thinking, "But waxing hurts!" Look, I'm not going to lie, there might be a little sting at first. But with the right technique and high-quality wax (like ours, of course!), it's totally manageable and hurts less the longer you get waxed. And trust me, the results are SO worth it.
So, if you're ready to ditch the razor and experience the magic of waxing, I'm here to cheer you on every step of the way. Remember, you deserve to feel confident and beautiful in your own skin. And with waxing, you can achieve that and so much more.
