How to Sketch Buildings Like an Architect

In this video, you will learn how to sketch complex buildings quickly and capture the character of a building without having to draw difficult geometries perfectly. When an architect sketches, the idea is to achieve the presence and feel of a building on to the page as quickly as possible, and with the technique that I share in this video, you will learn how to do exactly that without spending hours measuring and drawing hundreds of reference lines to capture the minor details. Hatching and shading can help play with light and dark, distance and orientation. Below are the steps that I followed for this drawing.

Step 1: get an understanding of the perspective and draw out the boxes/ boundaries of different shapes that make up the building.
Step 2: quickly draw out the finer details without worrying too much about accuracy.
Step 3: Shade light and dark with hatching. Easy!
