Arlene Atherton | Challenges With Regaining Your Life Following Traumatic Brain Injury | 4/9/25

Arlene R. Atherton is the Director of TBIRA – Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery Association. TBIRA is the ONLY Non-Profit in the United States to focus on helping TBI Survivors REGAIN their lives: return to their profession, and re-enter society.
TBIRA is also the ONLY Non-Profit that has 100% IVY ALUMNI volunteers in the “Leadership Board” positions.

Atherton states, “IVY understands the value of ‘PROTECTING INTELLECT.’ They know the impact education has on their lives, and the
opportunity to lead in their profession. It takes BRIGHT MINDS to create solutions to Modern Social Problems. A TBI can happen to anyone.
They know it could happen to them.”

Atherton has lived in the (3) three “Power Centers” of the United States, and each one has shaped Atherton’s life.

Silicon Valley, raised in Cupertino, home of Apple Computer and the Digital Age. Atherton uses technology to deliver critical services in laser focus to provide solutions to today’s problems.

New York City - America’s Commerce Center, with Corporate Headquarters providing global services. Atherton learned her Marketing and Visual Communications skills at the center of Media in the USA: Broadcast, Magazine, Journalism. Arlene tackles tough situations. She was a 1st Responder on 9/11 2001.

Washington, DC – the seat of government for the most powerful nation in the world. Understanding the intersection of government agencies/departments and citizens' lives aids Atherton in navigating the corridors of “status quo” to partner with private enterprise to transform new approaches, bypassing barriers to change.

Arlene R. Atherton is a graduate of Columbia University ’01: Art History & Cultural Anthropology specialization in Visual Anthropology. She is also a graduate of Washington International Diplomatic Academy: Cultural & Economic Diplomacy.
