Finding people that get what you do is always the challenge. I often have ideas but getting just the right people to fill out those ideas is not always possible.
When in the concept of ‘Stories out the front of Milk Bars’ first popped into my head, Kerri was one of the first to contact me.
She, like me had strong memories of the iconic Milk Bar as a kid, mixed lollies, potato cakes, Ice Cold Coke. She also had her original bike from that era that she grabbed out and put back together for the shoot. How awesome. About 2 weeks before I had seen that the old Roadhouse in Leigh Creek had closed it’s doors for renovation, so using it’s decaying signage was just a must for this series.
So we set out, late afternoon, just off the busiest highway ever to create some images based around this idea. I loved the shots from this shoot, they have that 70’s carefree style I was after.
