Video review on a Ratcheting Terminal Crimp Tool with Dies made by Mac Tools. The part number is TCT747-KIT. It is able to manually crimp to factory specifications and features a precision full cycle ratchet for accurate repeatable crimps. Included in the kit is 6 dies for insulated 22-10 AWG, non insulated 22-10 AWG, non insulated 22-8 AWG, RG58, RG59/62, BNC/TNC, RG59, RG6, CATV F-Type, and Cord End Terminal 22-10 AWG. It has an RL warranty code which means it is a limited lifetime replacement warranty. The product is $124.99 plus tax on their website. This can be either purchased from their website or ordered from a local mobile dealer which I did.

When I first purchased this product, it was wrapped in a clear plastic which I have already removed. Next it also has a cardboard sleeve which the product specifications printed on it. I must say the case is very well made and I do like the features that it has both a hinged latch and both the top and bottom portions of the case are also hinged. I have had numerous tool cases in the past with a thing flexible plastic pivot which will eventually break over time and is no longer able to stay closed or function correctly. Opening up the case, everything is excellently laid out. Each item has it’s own little slot. The various dyes across the top, then the Ratcheting Terminal Crimper which one dye pre installed and finally to the right two extra allen head fasteners and an allen wrench.
The crimpers operate on a ratchet mechanism which will close and stop in place. They cannot be pulled back unless the mechanism has been released. I have been using these on a few different types of crimp connections with excellent results. Here is a brief demonstration using them on an insulated connector.
Overall I am very happy with this tool and look forward to use it on more projects. There was another Ratcheting Crimper kit similar to this available locally as well, but I didn’t find it being as good of quality, wasn’t a brand name product, and it didn’t offer a longer warranty either. It was also about $90 which wasn’t far off from this item either. While this may seem like a little more expensive up front, if you are getting into any large amounts of wiring work or are working with factory vehicle connector, this makes the job so much easier.
