Lens Tests : • Introducing Sigma 16-300 mm F3.5-6.7 DC OS...
Tamron has announced a new wide-angle zoom lens: the 16-30mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2, which covers the entire full frame image range. The lens system, which is available for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts, joins the 28-75mm and 70-180mm F2.8 G2. According to the manufacturer, the new lens is the successor to the 17-28mm F2.8 Di III RXD – obviously, it has a wider zoom range and a more modern autofocus motor, the latter of which is now a linear motor, which enables fast and silent focusing when shooting stills and movies.
The dust- and splash-proof barrel also features a USB-C port, allowing you to program the lens directly from your computer (firmware and parameter settings via Tamron software). The Tamron 16-30 mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2 has a 67 mm filter thread, measures 75 x 102 mm, and weighs 440 grams. The optical formula consists of 16 lens elements in 12 groups. The aperture iris is made up of nine rounded blades, which provides a completely circular aperture across almost the entire F-range.
