Septa Heavy Rail, LRV's and PCC's

Septa (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) runs a diverse collection of transit routes in and around Philadelphia. This video concentrates on the routes out of 69th st terminal in Upper Darby PA and the subway/surface routes on the southwest side of the city. The Norristown high-speed line gained fame as one of the last interurban lines in the country. This grade separated route at one time hosted the famed Electroliners after the North Shore was shut down. The two remaining trolley routes out of 69th st are on a private right of way with stone station buildings. We will visit the Media line which is the more scenic of the two. The Market - Frankford Subway/Elevated terminates at 69th st as well. The majority of this video will show the subway-surface trolley routes during several PCC fan trips. This system is a traditional trolley system with most track in the street. The routes all converge at 40th st and run to Center City Philadelphia via a tunnel under Market St. The Majority of this video was taken during several West Jersey Chapter N.R.H.S. fan trips and all runbys are photo stops and covered some trackage that no longer exists in 2024. There's a thin young kid that can be seen several times near the camera man (My Dad) that is yours truly. As a 15–16-year-old kid in the 1992-1994 time period when this was taken.
