The White Buffalo - I Am the Moon (Cover)

This week’s cover song ‘I Am the Moon’ by the White Buffalo – the stage name of folk/country musician Jake Smith. I have covered him a few times on this channel and he remains one of my favourites. I especially love his poetic lyricism and baritone voice. This song is featured on his album ‘Darkest Light, Lightest Lights’, released in 2017. Smith’s version features luscious strings yet remains a pretty simple track in terms of production. Every time I cover one of his songs, I notice how effectively he uses simple chords and structure. He reminds me of Blaze Foley in that way. The fingerpicking on this song was very bass heavy which meant more work for my thumb then I’m used to lol. But apart from that, this was a great song to learn (as is usually the case when I cover the White Buffalo) and I hope you enjoy my cover!
