Join Auke and Miranda from ExploGC as we explore one of the most peaceful and breathtaking spots in the north of Gran Canaria — Montaña Alta, in Santa María de Guía. 🌿

Our journey begins high in the green hills, at an altitude of 880 meters, surrounded by the calm and beauty of the northern landscape. From there, we start to climb the natural 99 steps — a path carved by time and shaped by nature itself. Each step leads us higher through stone and silence, as the fresh mountain air grows cooler and clearer.

At the top, we reach the Mirador de Montaña Alta, standing at 950 meters above sea level. From here, the island unfolds in a full 360-degree panorama — a view that truly takes your breath away.

👉 To the north, we can see Montaña de Guía, Gáldar, Moya, Arucas, and even Las Palmas shimmering in the distance.
👉 To the east, the landscape stretches toward Firgas, Pico de Osorio, and Valleseco.
👉 To the south, the peaks of Montaña de Parajito, Pinos de Gáldar, and Pico de la Bandera rise in the distance.
👉 And to the west, beyond La Atalaya and Pico de la Bandera, stands the magnificent Pico del Teide on Tenerife, floating above the clouds on a clear day.

It’s a place where time slows down — where you can stand still and feel the silence of the island’s heart. The wind carries the scent of pine and earth, the horizon glows with sunlight, and every direction tells a different story of Gran Canaria’s beauty.

After spending time at the top, we slowly make our way back down, taking in the golden light of the late afternoon. Every step reminds us why we love to explore this island — because Gran Canaria is not just beaches and resorts, but mountains, paths, and views that touch the soul.
