Camino De Santiago Day 1: Sarria - Portomarin.

My girlfriends and I arrived in Madrid, Spain on Sept 24. We took the metro from the airport to Chamartin train station, then boarded another train from Madrid to Sarria.
We did not know this then, but you need to book a taxi ahead in Sarria. We got to the bus station and there was only one taxi there, and it was already reserved. We had to walk to our hostel with our luggages. It was not fun.
Our camino journey began Sept. 25 at 7:30 am. We reached Portomarin around 4 pm. Our first break was at mile 2, where we got our first stamp and had breakfast. We took mini breaks, had lunch around 2 pm, and continued walking. With no expectations, Day 1 served as a trial run for our trip.
We did not book a tour for this trip. We just made it on our own. We did book our luggage transfer through Caminofacil. It was 35 euros per bag.
