I got a new lens, but before I take it out on location and spoil you with the natural beauty of Nova Scotia in winter I try my hand it an 'unboxing' video. It doesn't go well.

There's been a massive snow dump and the powder is perfect so we head into the forest to see what kind of landscape photography we can get out of this new Hasselblad XCD 80mm f/1.9 lens.

As predicted, it's not easy to compose a shot at this focal length but after a quick pee break I'm surprised to discover that I've accidentally framed up a lovely composition without realizing it.

Amanda gobbles down two cakes and doesn't share either but at least my snack is under the watchful eye of Freddie Mercury.

The winters here in Canada make for some truly spectacular 4k drone footage but in order to get to this particular landscape photography location we have to slide down the snow covered stairs. It's somewhat... bumpy.

To finish off this perfect adventure I take you to a special kind of forest that you've never seen before to indulge in some 'shallow depth of field' photography. That f/1.9 aperture delivers some exquisite bokeh but with the wind-chill it's challenging to get my fingers to work properly.

Will I fall in the river like I usually do and who brings a 'Tuxedo Cake' to a frozen waterfall? Do number plates just grow on trees and how big is Cosmo these days?

There's really only one way to find out.
