Back at Ellesborough Golf Club. Season two, episode five is a full 18 in deep winter, teeing off just four hours before sunset with frozen fairways, icy greens, and every shot asking a harder question than the last. The warm-up doesn’t tell the full story — the moment the round starts, the ground feels like concrete, the clubs feel heavy, and the front nine becomes a battle just to keep the score together.

What you’ll see: drives struck from iced-over tee boxes, approaches that skid, bounce or stop dead, and a front nine that feels like playing with someone else’s swing. Then a reset after the turn where the mindset shifts, the tempo settles, and the back nine finally opens the door. There are two birdies in a row as the sun sets over Ellesborough, frosted fairways underfoot on the closing stretch, and a cold, gritty par on the 18th that completes a hard-fought comeback. One rule going forward: stay patient long enough for the round to turn.
