Session 3 - Robert Bresson, Philosophically

Session 4 - Bresson, Film Education, and the Industry

In this panel, three filmmakers–Roger Crittenden, Andrew Oldbury, and Jonathan Hourigan–give three distinct perspectives on Bresson’s importance in training for and the making of movies.

This session consists of two studies of Bresson’s 1975 text, Notes sur le cinématographe, the first by Alfonso Hoyos Morales (“‘Un air de vérité…:’ Bresson and the Concept of Nature”) and the second by “Notes on Bresson” organizer and L’argent crew member Jonathan Hourigan (“Bresson’s Notes on Cinematography“).

Session 6 - Robert Bresson, Influentially

This final session brought together two papers, by scholar Sean Burt (“The Biblical Poetics of Robert Bresson”) and by artist Richard Bevan and bookseller, freelance art writer, and curator Tamsin Clark (“Footprints in the Sand”).
