The ethereal spiral tower of Spirits rose high into the sky and towards space. The show of lights brought forth a new day into the universe. With both Galeem and Dharkon gone for good, the fighters witnessed their success wandering further and further away, the light of the sun casting a bright shade on the planet with a comforting blanket of shadow on the other.

"It's over..." Meta Knight said. "We've accomplished our mission."

"That is a hell lot of Spirits rising up to space," Ken noted. "Did we really miss that many?"

"Maybe. We didn't bother to wander off from the land with the areas housing all those bosses," Palutena said. "Oh, I'm sorry. I mean YOU all didn't bother to do that. Last time I remember, I was a hopeless little wisp before getting snuffed out. I could've suggested to wander off had I been, what are the words, AVAILABLE EARLIER."

"Let it go, woman. Limelight isn't a priority here," Snake said, lighting up a cigarette. "What's done is done. No more dealing with this light and dark crap any longer besides the usual."

"I think he's talking about us, Lady Palutena...and supreme mistress overlord Bayonetta," Pit said, sporting a chain leash around his neck that Bayonetta had put on him. He earned many weird looks as Bayonetta nudged the leash with an amused smile. Pit, however, blinked in confusion as he looked around. "Waaaaaaait a minute... Our insane number of people is missing a few numbers!" DK gasped, though no one else did. They did look at each other to find out what he meant.

"Wait, what? Someone's not here?" Nana asked. "How can you even tell? I don't keep track of who's here and who's not."

Meta Knight wasn't about to go over dozens of people himself. "Pit, would you tell us who isn't here?" he asked.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm..." Pit trailed off, looking at everyone. "...Chris isn't here!"

After a little minute of looking around in the group, Pit's zany guess was confirmed to be true. "H-huh, he's right. What do you know," Sonic said, bewildered. "That guy isn't here."

"Where did he run off to?" Lucina asked. "Why would he disappear at a time like this?"

"...You know..." Olimar trailed off. "I-I found it rather strange he never got killed by that monster of light. Wasn't he with us before we were all blown to dust?"

"That kid didn't show up out of the blue?" Piranha Plant asked.

"Hmm..." Roy scratched his head in thought. "Why is it that my memories don't match with what we know? I know for sure he was with us...but I also know for sure he wasn't..."

What Pit failed to elaborate was that someone else was also missing from the group.
