Darren Hayes live acoustic set at Brisbane City Hall singing ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ at his book launch of his memoir ‘Unlovable’. He shares what this song was originally called and how it came to be the song that’s so loved today.

Darren has is best known as one half of the Australian pop duo Savage Garden who rose to fame in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Now a solo artist, Darren Hayes recently toured Australia to promote his memoir.

Last night I went to see Darren Hayes (you may know him as one half of Savage Garden) at his book release promo tour of his memoir. He did a very raw and emotional interview with Yumi Stynes about his childhood, living with an alcoholic and abusive Father, being with an emotionally and mentally abusive partner in his twenties and how music & fame was an escape from everything he was dealing with in his personal life. He spoke about the truth of how Savage Garden came to split up and shared the pain he went through at the end of his marriage to his wife. This is all in his book ‘Unlovable’ named after a song he wrote years ago. He sang a few acoustic songs relevant to his life story (with a standing ovation) and then signed books and chatted to over 600 people. I was able to have a quick chat while he signed my book which was lovely 💜
Reading this book is going to be an emotional journey for sure.
