Everglades National Park Short Take

It is time to get out of town a bit, away from the crowd. The Everglades National Park is only about 50 minutes away from Miami, famous for its prairie grassland and wildlife, including alligators. Unlike other national parks out west that feature grand mountain peaks and unique geological features, Everglades is flat. There is no other place in the world like this. Along the road, you will see signs that say "elevation 3 feet."
The weather has been clear, one can just see miles and miles ahead with no mountain range. It's just flat earth and sky. The cumulus clouds here are so dramatic, what is so lacking on the landscape (not even too many trees around the place) is more than made up by the clouds overhead.
There are very few trails here, mostly lookout points accessible via broadwalks. At a place called Royal Palm, there are a lot of opportunities to see alligators, vultures, heron and anhingas (a large bird that is known to dive underwater to catch fish, it can also swim with the body submerged and the head and long neck above water, thus leading to the alias of snake bird).
