We took a train from Kyoto to Wakayama, and picked up our Toyota Raize at Orix Car Rental located right next to the Wakayama Station. It was a delightful 510km self-drive holiday around the coastline (fishing villages) and through countless tunnels in the mountainous interior (orange farming villages). Unlike the crowded Kyoto, Wakayama was quiet and we really enjoyed having the places to ourselves. We visited:
