Today I have the great pleasure of inviting Tom Monaghan — Dominos Pizza founder, owner of the Detroit Tigers World Series Championship Team, and founder of Ave María University — to the podcast.

Tom Monaghan is a name synonymous with the global phenomenon of pizza delivery, and best known as the founder of Domino's Pizza.

Born in 1937 in Ann Harbor, Michigan, Monaghan's journey into the pizza world began in 1960 when he and his brother James purchased a small pizzeria called Dominic's in Ypsilanti, Michigan with a vision that was both bold and innovative. Tom bought out his brother's share for Volkswagen Beetle and renamed the business Domino's Pizza.

In 1965 under Monaghan's leadership Domino's revolutionized the pizza delivery industry his introduction of the "30 minutes or less delivery guarantee" marked a pivotal moment in fast food history, setting a new standard for convenience and service. By the time he sold his company in 1998, Domino's had grown into a multinational giant with thousands of locations across the globe.

Monaghan's influence extends beyond the realm of pizza. As a devout Catholic, he has dedicated much of his fortune to philanthropic efforts including Catholic education and the founding of Ave María University in Ave María, Florida.

His legacy is a testament to entrepreneurial spirit, vision, and the impact of innovative service models on global food culture.
