The Great Sphinx of Giza 3D Scanning Project 〜 WORLD SCAN PROJECT’s Challenge

The Great Sphinx of Giza is said to have been built around 2500 BC on the orders of King Khafra. Although it was buried in the sand for about 1,000 years, its mysterious appearance has fascinated many people throughout the ages, including Napoleon and Japanese warriors who visited the Sphinx in the past. We at the WORLD SCAN PROJECT were able to capture the figure of the Sphinx down to the finest detail using the latest 3D scanning technology. By utilising the precisely recorded data for research and education, the historical and cultural value of sites such as the Sphinx can be widely communicated and passed on to future generations. Through this project, we hope that you too can feel the mystery and beauty of ancient Egypt.
