Hyundai Tucson with GDI Engine - Transmission Issues? Or Plugged Catalytic Converter?

I am NOT a mechanic - I just like to figure things out when they stop working properly.
My wife’s 2018 Hyundai Tucson with a GDI engine was acting very weird, and according to the internet, the Catalytic Converter is the issue, even though it almost felt like a transmission issue. I found a cheap kit on Amazon, and set out to replace it myself to see if that was the actual problem.
