Despite being less than an hour a way, I had never heard of this miniature railway until I stumbled across it by chance on the internet last week, so decided I would pay it a visit this Sunday. It operates every Sunday afternoon, weather permitting and is run by Wirral Model Engineering Society and located within Royden Country Park, just a few miles out of Birkenhead in Thurstaston.
It features two layouts and is very well patronised, with two substantial queues waiting for their turns, and 5 trains running simultaneously on both layouts. Well worth a visit in a pleasant public park.
