Classic version of the famous aria from Chaozhou opera "Bao Lian Deng" (The Magic Loutus Lantern 宝莲灯). One of renowned Chaoju actress Fan Zehua's (范澤崋) best loved audio recordings, made in the early 1960's.
In this play, Fan plays the role of Liu (刘彦昌), who weds a celestial being and thus incurs the wrath of her brother, who forcefully separates the loving couple.
In this melancholic aria, Liu recalls the good times he has spent with his wife, and the long periods of loneliness he has suffered after she has been taken away from him.
