Xenoblade Chronicles X | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary

Today we archive the very first Xenoblade Chronicles game on the channel. Xenoblade Chronicles X has always stood out to me due to its unique art style and its gorgeous graphics. For the longest time it was a Wii U exlcusive until last year it was announced that a remaster was coming to the Switch. Since I bought a Wii U last year I wanted to take the chance to visit the original game and see what it was all about.
Xenoblade Chronicles X tells the story of a silent protagonist who crashes on a mysterious planet. Others who have crashed here have built a new society known as New Los Angeles. Now it is up to you to scout new areas, come into contact with the locals and defeat giant monsters. The game throws a lot of information at you and it has quite a big learning curve. There are a lot of mechanics to learn and master and it really is a game that you can lose yourself in for hundreds of hours just tweaking your character, equipment and skills.
There is a huge roster of characters to befriend, level up and do side missions for. The world itself is gigantic and beautifully presented. Its colorful, vast and oozing with atmosphere. The creatures are sometimes as big as buildings and you are always curious what animals will roam the next biome. You even get to pilot giant robots at one point and get to fly around. Each time you think the game cannot introduce a new type of mechanic, it does and it is absolutely amazing.
Probably the biggest issue with the game is that the graphics were clearly a bit much for the system to handle as there is a lot of pop up or textures that need to load in first. This is why this is such a good game for a remaster since that can easily be tweaked on more powerful hardware. Also there is unfortunately no way to lower the volume of the music which is sometimes pretty loud during spoken dialogue or cutscenes. But this was definitely a great introduction to the Xenoblade world and I cannot wait to archive the other ones as well.
