The challenges of being gay, lesbian or transgendered are often times among the biggest adversities that exist for especially black men and women. The issues of ideas of masculinity, as well as the levels of opposition to homosexuality in the black church often times poses the largest threats and pains to those in the african american community who are black and gay. Along with these issues, without a doubt many of the other challenges of being a minority, such as high unemployment, poverty and STD rates, and sometimes lack of decent educational opportunities, are among the issues that are also faced by the same groups.
In this lecture and Question and Answer Session, Openly Gay Stand Up Comedian Sampson tackles the issues of race, sexuality and gender for the 2011 Black History Month Lecture Series at Cambridge Ridge & Latin High School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
