In February 2023, Abby was reported missing. Just days later, the horrifying truth came to light. Authorities discovered her dismembered body hidden inside a rented village house in the rural area of Tai Po. The scene was gruesome. Inside, investigators found a chilling collection of tools: a meat grinder, an electric saw, and even soup pots filled with human remains. Parts of her body were also found stuffed inside a refrigerator. Police believe she was killed and dismembered right there in that house.
The suspects? People shockingly close to her.
Her ex-husband, Alex Kwong, his brother Anthony Kwong, and their father Kwong Kau were all arrested and charged with Abby’s murder. Even more disturbing—Alex’s own mother, Jenny Li, was accused of misleading investigators in an attempt to protect her family.
According to prosecutors, the motive behind this horrifying crime was money. Despite Abby’s continued support, bitter disputes over financial matters escalated to deadly violence.
As news of the murder spread, a dramatic twist followed. Just one day after Abby’s remains were found, Alex Kwong tried to make a daring escape from Hong Kong. Prosecutors revealed that he had planned to flee to Macau by yacht.
But escaping justice would not be so easy.
Two people — Lam Shun, a 44-year-old yacht rental agent, and Irene Pun, 31 — were found guilty of helping Alex plan his escape. Even though they reportedly didn’t know about his connection to Abby’s murder, the court ruled that they knew he was on the run from police and chose to help him anyway. The judge said they acted "with the intention to obstruct justice." Both are now in custody, with sentencing set for June 27, 2025.
As for Alex Kwong, his father, and his brother—the murder charges against them are still pending. The case will go to Hong Kong’s High Court, but as of now, no trial date has been announced.
Abby Choi’s tragic death serves as a haunting reminder of how greed and betrayal can destroy even the most glamorous lives. The world continues to watch as justice slowly unfolds for the young model who had everything—except safety from the people closest to her.
