Junkanoo is a part of Bahamian culture. We spent almost 20 winters on our wharram catamaran, Ripple, based in Black Sound, Green Turtle Cay. We have been lucky to have had the opportunity to dance behind the parade as it meanders through the narrow streets of New Plymouth most years. It's an extremely colourful, rhythmic, loud group of musicians and dancers of all ages. It's hard to put into words so try and make it down there. This little video will give you some idea of what to expect but beware, the party continues on long after.
