水道記念館

水道記念館は、仙台市の水源のひとつである青下水源地内にあり、水道のしくみや歴史、水と森林・環境の関わりなどを楽しみながら学べる施設です。

1階
「仙台市の水道のあゆみ」ゾーン
仙台市の水道が給水を始めたのは、1923年(大正12年)。水不足と戦い、豊かな水を求め続けた仙台市水道の歴史を「人」と「技術」にスポットを当てて振り返ります。東京・汐留開発で発掘された仙台藩上屋敷の上水遺構（木樋、木桶）や、仙台城下の四ツ谷用水のパネルなど、近代水道が始まる以前の人と水の関わりを紹介します。


2階
「水道のしくみ、」ゾーン
水道の水はどうやって届けられるのでしょうか。ここでは、普段は当たり前に使える水道水がどんな技術やしくみで供給されているのか、水道関連企業の協賛による実物のモデルも見ながら、学ぶことができます。また、水道局の災害対策や環境への取り組みなども紹介しています。

「水と環境」ゾーン
わたしたちが普段当たり前に使っている水道水は、豊かな自然環境がもたらす賜物です。ここでは、水循環や森林の働き、世界の水事情を紹介するパネル展示に加え、実際に手に触れて遊べる展示や木のぬくもりが感じられる積み木などで、楽しみながら学べます。 親子でいっしょに、水と環境について考える楽しいひと時を過ごしてみませんか。

Waterworks Memorial Hall

The Waterworks Memorial Hall is located at the Aoshita Water Source, one of the water sources for Sendai City, and is a facility where visitors can enjoy learning about the mechanism and history of waterworks, and the relationship between water, forests, and the environment.

1st floor
History of Sendai City's Waterworks" Zone
Sendai City's waterworks began supplying water in 1923 (Taisho 12). The history of Sendai City's waterworks, which fought against water shortages and continued to seek abundant water, is recounted with a focus on "people" and "technology. The exhibition introduces the relationship between people and water before the start of modern waterworks, including the remains of the water supply system (wooden gutter and wooden bucket) of the Sendai clan's Kamiyashiki residence excavated in the Shiodome development project in Tokyo, and panels of the Yotsuya water supply system under Sendai Castle.


2nd Floor
Waterworks Mechanism Zone
How is tap water delivered? Here, visitors can learn about the technologies and mechanisms used to supply the tap water that we normally take for granted, while viewing actual models sponsored by waterworks-related companies. The Waterworks Bureau's disaster countermeasures and environmental initiatives are also introduced.

Water and the Environment Zone
The tap water we take for granted is the result of the rich natural environment. In addition to panel displays introducing the water cycle, the function of forests, and the state of water around the world, visitors can enjoy learning about water through hands-on exhibits and wooden blocks that make them feel the warmth of wood. Parents and children are invited to spend an enjoyable time together thinking about water and the environment.
