Tesla Model 3 - Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - Road / Track / Drag Race

With Elon Musk claiming that the brand new 2019 Tesla Model 3 would be able to hold its own against the world's greatest Performance saloons, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman put it up against the 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio in a face off between present and future. Electric cars as no longer the niche product they once were, with almost all major manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon. With the UK government pushing to make all new cars electrified by as soon as 2030, we were keen to see how performance saloons might compare in an EV future.

The new Model 3 is Tesla's first mass produced car, and has been making waves within the EV world. With it offering an affordable price tag, blistering performance of 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds, and a staggering range of over 300 miles, it really is defining new boundaries.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is powered by a glorious 2.9 litre twin turbo v6, which sounds fantastic and comes with meaty 503hp. Alfa Romeo are also famous for being able to give cars a certain special something that automotive enthusiasts can all agree is there, but never quite put their finger on. With electric cars often seen as clinical and lacking "soul", the Giulia Quadrifoglio seemed like the ideal reference point for the Model 3.
