I think the first instrumental version of this song dates back to 2001. I had just read Stanislaw Lem's Solaris and, struck by it, I thought of a soundtrack for the interior of the spaceship orbiting the planet Solaris. Some time later, I attempted to sing over it and write a lyrics about the meaning of "conscience". The meaning of the song (like all the songs on the album) is similar to that in Lem's novel: who are we, how much of our self-awareness and authenticity is there in the representation we have and give of ourselves? Are we generated by the minds and dreams of others like the ghosts generated by the brain-planet Solaris? Musically, I love Eddy Franco's touch on the drums —please listen carefully—and the riffs on my bass at the end. There are some great ideas in Simone Cacace's guitar, a beautiful and original exploration of sounds.
