Memento by ‪@ivantrevinomusic‬ is an early work of his from 2004. "Reflecting on the beginning of my composing career, Memento (2004) is where it all started. It was the first “classical” piece I ever composed, and I wouldn’t have written it without the support and encouragement of John Beck, my former professor at Eastman School of Music. It is an idiomatic marimba solo with a pop sensibility and set the groundwork for my compositional style moving forward." -Ivan Trevino

I had played this my senior year of high school on February 18th, 2023 for my regional solo and ensemble contest in Midland, TX and I recently brought it back to perform again for a project I had been working on in the Fall of 2025. While recording my graduate school pre-screening videos, I thought it would be a good idea to get a high quality recording of this work while I had the facilities and equipment! Seeing the progress since the last time I had played it was incredible and it reminded me of how much I truly love this piece of music and how beautiful it is!
