MIFGS 2025 | Best in Show Garden ǝ’skāp | Jason Schulz Interview

Jason Schulz from Yergan Landscape sits down with Clint Adams to break down the award-winning garden ǝ’skāp at this year’s Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show.

ǝ’skāp won Best in Show, Gold, and Best Use of Plant Life at this years show. The garden was designed by Rob Cooper of Distinctive Gardens, with the garden’s working drawings completed by Jason. Both Jason alongside Malcolm Berce of Desert Flower Landscaping conducted the construction, bringing ǝ’skāp to life.

ǝ’skāp is described as a sanctuary for reflection and reconnection. This lush, native Australian garden balances contemporary design with organic textures. Dynamic grasses add movement, layered planting creates immersion, and a vine-covered structure offers shade. A natural stone firepit fosters connection, while a reflective pond mirrors the sky. Floating pathways give the illusion of walking over water.

After MIFGS concludes, the garden’s structure will be donated to Little Heroes Foundation and auctioned to raise funds for childhood dementia research.
