John 1:1 Jesus is 'a god' | (NWT Defended)

The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ New World Translation calls Jesus ‘a god’ in John 1:1. Critics claim this creates a pantheon of gods to be worshipped or polytheism, going against the Bible that shows there is only one God. On top of this they claim that to use ‘a god’ contradicts statements later in the gospel of John where Thomas says ‘My Lord and My God’ in John 20:28 to Jesus, described by some as the greatest single testimony to Jesus Deity. In addition critics claim to translate ‘and the Word was a god’ instead of ‘the word was God’ is impossible due to established Colwell's rule and that this translation is arbitrary dogmatism and inconsistent.
Some even claim Jehovah’s Witnesses have made use of occult sources for this controversial translation.
However, as we shall see ‘the Word was a god’ is a legitimate translation, it does not violate rules of Greek grammar, nor does it pave the road for polythesim or imply Jesus is a false god and it is in harmony with the rest of the gospel of John.
