Amber and yellow weather warnings were issued for large parts of the UK on Monday, as a powerful storm, dubbed Floris, made landfall.
The storm, which hit in the morning of August 4, has brought “unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds,” the Met Office said, with wind gusts up to 108mph recorded in the Scottish highlands.
The impact of the storm has caused widespread disruptions to travel, leaving dozens of flights grounded at Glasgow, Belfast City and Edinburgh airports and halting multiple train lines across Scotland.
The storm also affected Ireland with strong winds overnight, leaving over 10,000 homes have been left without power, Irish media reported.
Multiple campervans were reported to have been blown over on the A87 road which leads to Portreee on the Isle of Skye.
