Here's a segment from the Fall Praise-A-Thon on WCFC Channel 38, coming in about 25 seconds into this clip after channel switching.
This starts with channel switching (from cable TV) from an excerpt from Boone episode "Chance of a Lifetime" (which aired on WMAQ Channel 5; featured Barry Corbin and Thomas Byrd) to a "Job Mart" on cable channel with soft rock song (can any music experts here apprise as to what it is?) to a film about computers and mathematics (probably on WYCC Channel 20) to another channel with color bars and background music, before settling onto the program in progress:
Therman (?) advising of banks of phones for people to call, and mentioning some of the people at the phones by name.
Next is Jerry Rose (WCFC's General Manager), starting with a pan of the backstage area of the studio (and RCA TK-45A cameras with Q-TV VPS-100 prompters atop the camera lens), and his co-host Nancy Larson (who hosted a long-running exercise show on Channel 38) advising that the total thus far is $414,212.
Nancy Harmon sings a gospel number.
Afterwards, Jerry walks through the huge studio again as the phone number to call is shown and a countdown to the end of the Praise-a-Thon is seen at the right.
A tour of the Studio A control room by (?) with director Bruce Vogel seated at one of the video switchers, and an explanation of the intricacies of the equipment as well as how long it was in service.
With 7:08 to go, the channel switches again to a brief snippet of a Levi's commercial, and back to the Boone episode mentioned earlier.
This aired on local Chicago TV on Monday, November 21st 1983 between 7:43pm and 7:53pm.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:
