Angel at Dusk story we know so far since people are interested -

Mankind has rid the world of all crime, pain, and desire. Finally, they extinguished the source of all sin, intellect, and transcended to angeldom. A great deal of time passes.

Mankind becomes obsessed with the elimination of inequality and become highly advanced in dna manipulation , biology and medicine. Humanity creates an artificial lifeform that only experiences pleasure and doesn't create waste, has an incredibly long lifespan, these are called ( Angels ).
There was the Angel biome project to convert all human life into angels, to end all of earths problems and life a blissful experience. Through this project though, would take billions of years to complete and humanity would evolve to reach its peak evolutionary form ending pain and suffering.
They would also have to give up intelligence, but this was rejected by some humans and they created the "billion year bricks"

Humanity moves forward and is turned into angels , while the wicked ones linger in the ruins of civilization and eventually die out. Angels' only desire apart from simply experiencing joy is to share their joy with others by fusing with others. When they fuse they become larger and share experiences and joy as one. When they become too large after fusing too many times they will split into smaller ones and repeat this process.

After billions of years a space anomaly happens and earth is hit by gamma rays altering the angels and causes gradual change over millions of years, some gaining back intelligence and the ability to feel pain creating adversity amongst angels and start avoiding eachother. The angels stop splitting into identical ones and create more adversaries, there are formations of different classes and clans of angels. After many wars, a clan of angels with telepathic abilities rise to dominance and create a new civilization with communication that spans the globe ,they prosper and their environment changes. After many years the sun begins to expand into its red giant phase and the moon slows down, even the angels cannot bare such conditions and retreat into regions of continuous twilight but eventually are forced to move underground.

As the angels move underground they discover ancient ruins of the humans and the angel biome project, they begin to study them. The angels split into two factions, one tries to reverse engineer human technology and create ships to escape the doomed planet that will become uninhabitable in 10000 years. The other are the regressionists who think it's divine punishment for gaining intelligence again, they want to revert back to true angels who only feel nothing but bliss.The regressionists maintain a bit of their intelligence to wage war with other angels. Eventually the intelligent angels manage to build a ship, but it's only 2 by 2 meters which they are only able to fill with their ganglia ( or brains ) and fused into a single unique angel. The ship is launched and escapes earth leaving behind the regressionists to their death to find a new home.
